A recent study by the United States Department of Labor reported on workplace deaths for the year of 2018. In total there were 5,250 work related deaths throughout the course of the year. This number, while only slightly higher than the 5,147 people who died in 2017 at the workplace, is still significantly high and should be addressed.
A closer look at the statistics in the study found that men are far and away the most likely to die on the job. In fact, in 2018, the study found that 92% of all deaths were among men at the workplace. This is a staggering statistic.
The rate of work related deaths among those 65 years or older is more than double that of those in the younger demographics.
Work related deaths can occur for a number of reasons and one of the biggest reasons found in this study was transportation related death.
