Previously on this blog we’ve discussed the dangers that can lie around every turn down an aisle at the grocery store, but did you know that slip and fall dangers can involve more than just the groceries on the shelf?
In fact, slip and fall injuries happen all of the time in stores across the state of Connecticut and they don’t always involve food related incidents. When you’re at the grocery store doing your weekly shopping you’ll want to keep an eye out for some other hidden dangers that could cause a serious injury.
-
Ceiling leak: This is something that could cause a slippery floor without you even knowing it. If you’re walking down an aisle and don’t know that the ceiling is leaking you could slip and fall on the puddle the leak is causing.
-
Sidewalk damage: The sidewalks leading in and out of the grocery store are prone to damage which could lead to a trip and fall injury. Be aware as you’re entering and exiting the store that this danger exists.
-
Newly mopped floors: Best practice is that the grocery store worker who mops the floor will identify the area as a wet floor, but if this doesn’t happen you could be in for an unforeseen injury.
Spending time at the grocery store on the weekends is not exactly what most people would call fun, but it can not only be boring, but also dangerous. Keeping an eye out for these hazards among others can keep you safe when shopping.
