The seasons are changing and while winter in Connecticut this year hasn’t been what we would call a New England winter, spring may turn out to be just what we expect. Driving in the springtime may not seem like a treacherous time, but it can be.
Before you head out on the road you should be aware that your tire pressure may rise as the temperatures rises so you’ll want to make sure once again that you recalibrate the pressure in your tires to ensure that they are not overinflated. Once you’ve gotten the tire pressure right, you can head out onto the roads for some wind in your hair springtime driving.
While you’re driving during spring months you’ll want to pay extra special attention for the following:
- Potholes: When the weather is cold, cracks in the road turn into potholes that can often be dangerous to you when driving. Be on the lookout for these beasts as they can send your car into a tailspin and cause a damaging accident.
- Animals: Just like humans, animals like the warmth of spring and you will often find them scampering across the roadway. These little guys (or sometimes big guys) can cause serious damage to your car or worse cause a Connecticut auto accident with another vehicle.
- Rain: Don’t think just because you’ve escaped winter that weather can’t be a factor in your drive. Rain can cause hydroplaning which can make you lose control of your car and have serious ramifications. If the rain is too heavy, pull over until it stops.
Spring driving is not often talked about when we think about the type of conditions that can cause dangerous situations, but it certainly can.
