After six months of being away from riding the bus to a school building, students are now returning and may need a refresher on bus safety. Riding the bus safely to school can help students avoid a Connecticut bus accident.
When your children are getting ready to return to school by riding the bus, here are some safety protocols to go over with them before their first day.
- Stay six feet back from the curb when the bus arrives at the bus stop. This would also be a good time to continue to remind your child to remain six feet apart from his/her friends in light of COVID-19
- If crossing in front of the bus, your child should be 10 feet in front of the bus and always be able to see the bus driver
- Always make sure that any loose clothing or backpack strings are tucked away to avoid getting caught as your child gets on or off the bus.
Riding the bus is a fun and exciting thing for your child to do, especially since he/she has been away from their friends and the experience of riding a bus for so long. Doing this safely is the only way to keep an exciting experience a positive one for your child throughout the school year.
