One of the biggest reasons that worker’s get injured on the job is when they are involved in transportation related accidents. If travel or transportation is required as part of your job and you are injured as a result of that travel it may be considered a Connecticut workers’ compensation case.
When you’re at work and you need to travel there are some things you can do to protect yourself from injury and ensure that you arrive at your destination safely. Here are some tips from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on how you can protect yourself when driving for work;
-
Do not use your phone while driving. If you can’t resist, lock it in your glovebox until you arrive at your destination.
-
If you must take a phone call, pull over and take the call on the side of the road or in a parking lot. Continue your travels after you hang up.
-
Do not reach for items or try to prevent something from falling while driving as this will take your eyes off of the road and distract you while driving.
-
Do not eat or drink while driving. Anything that takes your attention away from the road is a distraction.
Distracted driving on and off the job is very dangerous and causes a Connecticut auto accident, but if it happens while you’re on the job it may also be considered a situation where you will need to file a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.
