Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Three Workplace Injuries That May Occur In A Warehouse

If you work in a warehouse as part of your daily duties at your job, you have many concerns as it relates to being injured on the job.  Getting injured at work can lead to a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim and leave you out of work for some time.

There are many ways you might get injured working in a warehouse and you certainly need to be vigilant about them all, but here are three that you might not have thought of when considering how to stay safe at work.

  1. Falling objects:  We often take for granted when we are walking through a warehouse that everything will be stacked perfectly, but often it is not.  With wall to wall boxes and shelving, the chances that something may fall throughout the course of your day is high.  That is why it is so important to always be aware of your surroundings and make sure you are keeping an eye around you.

  2. Moving parts: Whether you are working with heavy machinery or a lightweight cart most of the tools used in the warehouse setting do have moving parts.  Getting your finger, hand, or leg caught in these moving parts could result in injury.  Even your hair can get caught in the moving parts of a machine and could result in an injury.

  3. Harmful Substances: Unless you work with chemicals or other harmful substances directly you may not consider this to be a threat, but in a warehouse setting harmful substances are all around.  If you smell something or see something that is unusual you should report it or it may lead to an injury.

Working in a warehouse setting can be rewarding.  Spending time with co-workers and a day of a job well done can be all the thanks you need for your work, but don’t let the good times lead to bad by not being vigilant about your surroundings.
