Another Wrong Way Connecticut Auto Accident Is A Continued Safety Reminder

A recent Connecticut auto accident occurred when a woman was driving the wrong way on Route 8 in Waterbury.  Unfortunately the driver experienced life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital.  Fortunately, the driver and passenger of the car that was hit, both sustained minor injuries in the accident.  The accident occurred late at night, just before midnight.

Wrong way accidents are becoming a serious problem in Connecticut as a rash of these types of accidents continue to occur.  While every situation and incident is different there are some things we can take from them all to help insure that this type of incident does not happen as often as it has been happening around the state in the last year or so.

Here are some things you can do to make sure you are not going to get yourself into a situation where you are experiencing a wrong-way incident.

  1. Avoid late night driving.  The vast majority of wrong-way accidents occur late at night.

  2. Avoid distractions.  Being distracted is another key factor in wrong-way incidents.  Being distracted is dangerous no matter what situation you are in as you are driving, but it can be especially dangerous if you are not familiar with an area.

  3. Slow down.  Speed is also a concern when it comes to wrong-way accidents and can play a factor in making these incidents more serious.  Excessive speed is one of the main factors in all auto accidents, but especially wrong-way accidents.

There have been a large number of Connecticut auto accidents that have involved wrong-way incidents over the last couple of months, but there are things that can be avoided quite easily which will make it less likely that you will get into the accident if you follow these steps.
