Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

June 2018

Be Aware of Swimming Pool Hazards

The first official day of summer is June 21st—but many people would agree that the first real day of summer is the day the local swimming pool opens. School is out and teenagers and families alike gather at the pool to enjoy warm days in the sun and water.

While swimming pools are fun and relaxing, they pose certain inherent dangers. Every summer, people throughout Connecticut sustain injuries at swimming pools. It is especially important to be aware of hazards when you bring children to the pool.

Memorial Day Weekend Can Mean Injury Risks

For many people, Memorial Day kicks off the summer. The days get longer and warmer, with snow and frost replaced by blooming flowers and freshly landscaped lawns. Memorial Day Weekend brings on the barbecues, fireworks, friends, and family. It's also a time to remember, honor, and celebrate those who served for our country. However, while celebrations are plentiful, Memorial Day Weekend also sees an increased number of common injuries.
