Autumn Driving Tips To Avoid a CT Personal Injury

Autumn is here and with it comes changes; changes to the weather and road conditions. It brings a respite from the stifling summer heat, along with beautiful days and many different road conditions that can cause Connecticut auto accidents. Always make sure you are giving the road and your driving your undivided attention  Here are some changes you will want to keep a close eye on.

1. End to Daylight Savings Time. On November 3, 2019 at 2 a.m. we will “fall back” and gain an extra hour of sleep, however, this signals big changes for our habits. This fall back of time means that people who once commuted home in daylight, now commute home in the dark. This brings forward a lot of nighttime driving issues. With darkness setting in earlier, you may have some nighttime driving issues like:

  • Inability to stay focused
  • Missing traffic signs/signals/turns
  • Excessive tiredness
  • Frequent yawning
  • Continuous daydreaming

2. Holiday Happenings. Fall brings with it so many festivities: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Channukah, New Year’s, and beyond. Despite these happy events, they can bring with them stress which can lead to aggressive and distracted driving. Keep your distractions to a minimum and avoid phone use while driving (it’s against the law), follow posted signs/speed limits, no tailgating, avoid drinking and driving, just to name a few. While you may be following all of the rules of the road, others may be agitated while driving. Avoid unnecessary hand gestures, move out of an aggressive driver’s path, and call the police if necessary.

3. Animals Crossing. Autumn weather brings wildlife out and about. Pay attention to animal crossing signs and follow posted speeds.

The CT Injury Lawyers wish you and your family a healthy, happy, and festive autumn!
