Avoid A Connecticut Auto Accident By Staying Safe From Sun Glare

Summer is a great time of year to do a lot of fun activities outside, but it can cause a lot of difficulty during your commute.  When the sun is high in the sky it can cause significant glare on your windshield leading to dangerous driving conditions.  Driving with the sun in your face can be the root cause of a Connecticut auto accident.

The good news is that sun glare is something that doesn’t last too long during your drive and there are also a number of things you can do to keep yourself and your passengers safe when it does arise during your drive.  Some of the things that AAA recommends to limit the effect of sun glare include;

  • Keeping your windshield clean.  A dirty windshield can adversely affect your ability to avoid sun glare, therefore it is critical that you always keep a clean windshield on both the inside and the outside of the window.

  • Wear sunglasses.  Not only are sunglasses good for protecting your eyes from damage from the sun, they will also allow you to see through sun glare without squinting or closing your eyes.

  • Use your headlights.  Turning your headlights on also turns your taillights on which will make it easier for other drivers to see you when they are on the road.  The easier your vehicle is to be seen, the safer the roads are.

  • Always leave extra room between you and the car in front of you.  Leaving extra room in front of you will allow you to brake with the traffic and not rear end the car in front of you.  Especially with the sun glare stopping can be a challenge and the more room you give yourself the safer you will be.

Every season has a challenge when driving and trying to keep yourself safe, but summer is an especially challenging time to be on the roads.  With a glaring hot sun there is a greater possibility of getting into a Connecticut auto accident.  Following these steps will help you stay safe no matter what time of day you are driving.
