Avoid These Situations To Prevent A Connecticut Bicycle Accident

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) there were nearly 900 deaths as a result of a bicycle accident in 2018.  This is an incredibly high number of fatalities, some of which may have been prevented if the cyclists had avoided certain situations.

In many cases there are factors that could be avoided to keep yourself safe when riding a bicycle.  In all cases you should wear a helmet if you’re riding.

What are some of the situations that you’ll want to avoid when riding your bike?

  • Cyclists who ride between the hours of 6p-9p are most prone to being killed in a bicycle accident

  • Avoid riding on busy streets.  75% of all fatalities occurred in an urban setting as opposed to a rural setting.

  • Men are at an astronomically higher chance of dying as a result of a bike accident with men dying 8 times more often than females.

  • Nearly one third of all bicycle related fatalities involved alcohol.

If you’re riding your bicycle and hope to stay safe, avoiding the above situations will go a long way towards making sure you avoid an accident all together.
