Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Death Of Construction Worker After Fall Is A Reminder Of The Dangers Of Fatal Workplace Injuries

A 63-year old Lebanon man was recently killed in a fall on the site of his job where he and the crew were pouring a foundation for a new home.  After he fell into the hole that would become the basement, the man was rushed to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The construction industry is one of the deadliest for workers’ compensation claims in Connecticut and often results in wrongful death claims as well.  This fall and others like it are difficult reminders of the dangers that the industry presents to  its workers and the need for continual safety checks and regulations to keep workers safe.

While it is incumbent on companies to make sure their workers are safe there are some things you or your loved one can do if they are working on a job site to stay safe.  These things include;

  1. Always wear protective gear

  2. Communicate with your co-workers

  3. Follow all safety guidelines that are laid out by law and by your company

  4. Participate in all safety training set forth by your company

  5. Avoid crowded spaces

Not all accidents can be avoided, even if the best safety measures are taken, but staying vigilant while on the job can help keep you and your co-workers safe from injury.  If you are injured on the job you may have a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.
