Do These Three Safety Checks Before A Summer Road Trip To Avoid A Connecticut Auto Accident

What could be better than heading out on to the open road with some friends or your family for a good old fashioned summer road trip?  The only thing standing in your way is the prospect of getting into a Connecticut auto accident.  An accident most assuredly would derail your fun and cause a dream scenario to turn into a nightmare outcome.

Before you start down the road of all the important things like preparing a playlist or gathering snacks for your cooler, you will want to make sure you have the REALLY important things taken care of, like safety for your car ride.  If you do not pay close attention to this safety checklist you may end up in an accident that will render your playlist and snacks useless as you tend to much more important issues.

This checklist should take you no more than 20 minutes to complete and it could mean the difference between arriving at your destination safely or never getting there due to an injury and a damaged vehicle.  So, take these three steps and it should be smooth sailing to your destination.

  1.   Check your tire pressure.  One of the most difficult things to gauge is your tire pressure in the summer months.  Overfilling your tires in the summer months can be detrimental to your safety and if the worst case scenario happens and one of your tires over expands and blows out you could be in for a very long and dangerous road ahead.

  2. Make sure your headlights, brake lights, and signal lights are all working properly.  A complete set of lights for your car is important, especially when you’re driving at night, but any time of day, a bad light can lead to unsafe driving conditions and could get you into an accident.

  3. Windshield wipers.  Summer months are notorious for severe pop-up thunderstorms that can lead to torrential downpours.  If your windshield wipers are not working properly it may cut down on your visibility and therefore could put you in a situation where you are at risk.

You may not always consider looking at these items on a daily basis when you are driving short distances, but if you’re planning a road trip and it’s going to be longer than a usual drive that you might take it is important for you to keep yourself and your passengers safe.  A quick check of these three elements could be the difference between arriving at your destination safely and a Connecticut auto accident.
