Drivers Admit To Driving 100 MPH Which Could Lead To A Connecticut Auto Accident

The posted speed limit may not mean much to some Connecticut drivers who were recently surveyed and admitted to driving 100 MPH at least 4 times in the last month.  This type of excessive speed is one of the most dangerous activities that you can do when behind the wheel, and can lead to not just a Connecticut auto accident but to a deadly accident.

The recent survey of Connecticut drivers was conducted by a car dealer site called Gunther Volkswagen Daytona Beach, and it revealed just how dangerous some Connecticut residents are when they get behind the wheel of their vehicles.  The survey was conducted for residents of all 50 states and Connecticut was found to have the drivers who were the most guilty of driving over 100 MPH regularly.  Other states where drivers were honest and admitted to this behavior included Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri and Virginia.

The survey attempted to understand drivers' feelings towards all things speeding, including: the use of cameras to slow drivers down, whether or not drivers had an understanding of speeding penalties, and if these mitigation strategies that have been put into place would actually slow them down while behind the wheel.  Here are some more of the findings from the survey:

  • The percentage of drivers in the state of Connecticut who were not clear on the fact that penalties for speeding could include everything from a fine, to a license suspension, to jail time, was a staggering 60%.

  • Over half of all drivers who were surveyed in Connecticut said that even though they will speed when they are driving, they will often criticize other drivers who are speeding.

  • Presumably the same over 50% of drivers also admitted that if cameras were not a part of the mitigation strategies employed by the state of Connecticut that they would likely speed more and not less.

  • A smaller percentage of those polled said they believed that highways should not include speed limits.

The survey showed results that were in some ways surprising and quite dangerous if these behaviors are actually true.  Excessive speed is one of the deadliest things you can do when you’re behind the wheel.  Study after study has shown that if you are driving over the speed limit and get into an accident the injuries you suffer from a Connecticut auto accident can be far greater than if you weren’t speeding and may even include death.
