Four Pieces Of Gear You Need To Protect Yourself In An Emergency

Whether you’re headed out on Connecticut roads at night or during the day you will want to have a few key pieces of gear with you to make sure you are staying safe.  Some of this recommended gear will help you avoid a Connecticut auto accident while the other gear will protect you if you are pulled over and get you back on the road faster.

The good folks over at AAA have recommended this gear as key in keeping yourself and your passengers safe as well as making sure that your vehicle does not leave you stranded on the side of the road without help.  Buying this gear and keeping it in your car will give you peace of mind and the confidence that you will be safe no matter what the situation is.

Being prepared is the best way to avoid an accident or a dangerous stop along the side of the road.  Here are some things that are recommended by AAA:

  • Road flares:  Whether you break down at night or during the day road fares will help bring attention to your vehicle on the side of the road so people who are passing by can safely maneuver around you and avoid any dangerous interactions.

  • RESQME The Original Keychain Car Escape Tool: This versatile tool can help you  if you are involved in a collision.  If your seatbelt is jammed and you cannot get out of the vehicle you can use this tool to cut the seatbelt.  You can also use this tool to break windows that are stuck so you can escape the vehicle.  We don’t want you to have to use this tool, but if you have it and need it, it could save your life.

  • A complete emergency kit:  A fully loaded emergency kit will include things like jumper cables, an air compressor, a first-aid kit, a flashlight, spare batteries, and more.  This kit is the one recommended by AAA and it has 76 essential tools in it for you in the event of an emergency.

  • Save-A-Deer Whistle:  If you’re a city driver you may not have as much need for this tool as those who live in rural Connecticut, but either way it’s a good thing to have on hand as the deer population in our state is exploding.  This is a “set it and forget it” tool that attaches to the front of your car and sends out a whistle that only deer and other wild animals can hear alerting them to get out of the way.

The best way to make sure a Connecticut auto accident you’re involved in is not made worse is to prepare ahead of time.  Even if you’re an optimist and think that it’s very unlikely that you will get in a car accident, it’s a good idea to prepare and then you don’t have to think about these items again.  If you do find yourself in need of these tools, you’ll have them and be glad you do.

Injuries as a result of auto accidents happen all the time.  In some cases you may need an experienced attorney to review your case and fight on your behalf with the insurance companies.  If that is the case for you, contact our office and one of our attorneys will work with you to ensure your long-term interests are cared for.
