Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Four Unsafe Working Conditions That Can Lead To A Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Injury

When you go to work each and every morning you are hoping that you return home safely without any incident of a workplace injury.  Unfortunately there are some workplaces that have conditions that may lead to a Connecticut workers’ compensation injury.

While there are a number of different areas of a work environment that could be focused on that could cause serious injury, there are many areas that can cause injuries to your feet.  A foot injury may not seem severe at first glance, but recovery from an injury to your foot could mean weeks if not months away from your job.  Some of the conditions that you might come across at work that could be unsafe and lead to a foot injury may include;

  1. Slippery floors:  Whether you work around chemicals or are just passing by a floor that has just been mopped up, there is a chance that slippery floors at your workplace could lead to a foot injury that could become very serious.

  2. Incorrect footwear: While not necessarily a workplace condition, not having the appropriate footwear for your job’s duties can lead to an injury.  While you are choosing your own footwear, your employer may be held responsible if your injury occurs at work.

  3. Littered walkways:  Especially if you are working in a warehouse or a manufacturing space there is a high likelihood that when you are walking around the workspace there will be debris and litter along your path.  If there is, you could run into a situation where you become injured due to that impediment to your walking path.

  4. Poor lighting: If your workplace is not well lit it can lead to serious issues when you are performing your duties.  If you can’t see where you are stepping well you are much more likely to trip, turn an ankle, or worse.  Your employer should be made aware of poor lighting immediately to avoid any injuries due to poor visibility.  If they do not handle it and you get injured it may be considered Connecticut workers’ compensation.

For those that are regularly working on their feet, an injury to your foot can mean a loss of income and time away from work.  It is imperative that if you are injured you immediately report the injury to your supervisor to start the process of filing a claim.  Do not “walk it off” which could lead to a longer term injury down the road.  Get your injury seen by a medical professional and get the compensation that is rightfully yours.
