Headed To The Ballpark? Beware Of These Potential Connecticut Slip And Fall Injuries

It’s America’s pastime.  A sport that we all cherish and love so dearly and what better way to celebrate the cooling weather then with a trip to the ballpark.  That is, until an idyllic American afternoon turns into a dangerous Connecticut slip and fall accident that leaves you or someone you are with injured and headed to a long recovery.

Of course, it doesn’t have to end this way.  While stadiums have a number of hazards that can lead to accidents, if you’re careful and approach things with caution you will be able to enjoy a day at the ballpark without having to worry about an injury.   These cautionary steps do not have to get in the way of any of the fun you will have nor do they need to be made a big deal out of before you head to the game, just some friendly reminders to yourself and those you are with to keep safe will do the trick.

If you’re headed out as a group it may be a good idea to go over a few simple things everyone can do to keep safe while at the game.  When everyone knows what to be on the lookout for and how to be safe you will be able to enjoy the game and get home safely.

  1.    Stairs.  One of the biggest slip and fall injury threats at the ballpark are the stairs.  Stairs that lead up to the highest bleachers can often be steep and narrow so you will want to take extra care in traversing them.  You may need to go slower than others on the stairs to help keep yourself safe and you should always go at your own pace no matter who is in front of you or behind you.  Going up and down stairs presents different problems so taking one step at a time and being mindful of where you place each foot as you’re going up and down will keep you free from danger.

  2. Spills.  With the amount of food and drinks that a ballpark sells during a ballgame there are bound to be dangers all around the stadium.  If you are carrying drinks and food you should be extra careful not to spill anything (as best you can) so you don’t leave a hazard for someone else.  Spills happen and if you’re not careful you might find yourself slipping on someone’s spilled beer or tripping over a spilled popcorn box and landing face first on cement.  Take your time as you move through the park and especially near the concession stands, which will help keep yourself and your loved ones safe.

  3. Uneven surfaces.  Even the newest baseball stadiums are not built perfectly and there may be situations where there are uneven surfaces that you have to account for when moving throughout the park.  Again, caution and steadiness are your friend here and should be used no matter where you are walking.   Whether there is a raised curb or a screw that’s sticking up out of the floorboards there can be a lot of dangerous situations that are found throughout the stadium.  If you take it slow and keep an eye where you’re walking you will do just fine.

There are very few things that are more fun than taking the family to see a baseball game at your local ballpark, but if your trip ends badly and a Connecticut slip and fall accident leads to an injury it may be a memory you have for the rest of your life for all the wrong reasons.  When you take time to go to a game, take the time to be safe and keep yourself and those you are with safe from harm.  Hopefully the team you’re rooting for will win and so will you with a great memory and a fun filled day for all.
