Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

How One Becomes A Board Certified Workers’ Compensation Attorney And Why It Matters To You

There are many attorneys in the state of Connecticut that handle Connecticut workers’ compensation cases.  When you look to find out how many of those attorneys have been board certified the number drops dramatically.  In fact, in our state there are approximately 50 attorneys who have met the criteria to become board certified.

In order to get this certification, attorneys must go through six rigorous steps which include the following;

  • Have been a practicing attorney in the state for at least five years

  • There must be a certain percentage of their practice dedicated to workers’ compensation cases

  • Be a member of the Connecticut Bar and in good standing

  • Furnish recommendations from his/her peers

  • Pass an examination that lasts a full day

  • Continue to learn and grow as a workers’ compensation attorney by staying up-to-date through regular continuing education courses

Once these criteria are met an attorney can be certified as a workers’ compensation attorney.

So why does this all matter to you?

A board certified workers’ compensation attorney has demonstrated a level of expertise and longevity that will serve you well in your case.  Hiring someone who knows the law inside and out and has demonstrated that both to the Connecticut Bar Association, his/her peers, and to clients is an invaluable resource.  If an attorney is board certified you can be assured that they have this level of expertise.
