OSHA’s Most Cited Violations List Released For 2021

Each year the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) releases their list of the top 10 cited safety violations of the year.  This list is informative to business owners, but also to employees who should be on the lookout for these types of violations at their jobs to make sure that they are not injured as a result of one of these safety violations.

Being aware of the top 10 safety violations that have been cited by OSHA is one way to protect yourself against a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.  If you are on the lookout for any of these violations as they affect your job and safety at your workplace you will be more likely to catch the violation before you run into a situation where you are injured by it.

The OSHA Top 10 list for 2021 once again had fall protection at the top for the 11th year in a row.  This is a safety violation that results in countless injuries each year.  The top ten violations include:

  1. Fall protection - General

  2. Respiratory protection

  3. Ladders

  4. Scaffolding

  5. Hazard Communications

  6. Lockout/Tagout

  7. Fall Protection - Training

  8. Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment - Eye and Face Protection

  9. Powered Industrial Trucks

  10. Machine Guarding

While you’re on the job you need to be aware of the dangers that some of these violations can have for you.  If your employer is not following OSHA guidelines and has either been cited or could be cited for one of these violations it could mean dangerous conditions for you.

It is not your responsibility as an employee to review OSHA violations or standards, but having this bit of knowledge may be a good tool in your toolbelt to help you avoid being injured on the job.  If you are injured it may be considered a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.
