These Two Apps Might Finally Convince You To Drive Without Your Phone

There are very few things that are more dangerous than driving while looking down at your phone to make a call or send a text message.  Even when you are doing something like looking down at your maps app to see where you are supposed to be going you are putting yourself in greater danger of getting into a Connecticut auto accident.

It is always our recommendation that you put your phone out of sight when driving.  Storing your phone in the glovebox or a center console will keep it out of sight and out of mind so that even if some distracting notification shows up on your screen you will not see it.  There is however, now an alternative to this method of keeping yourself from getting distracted, in fact there are two alternatives.

The first alternative is an app called TextDrive.  You can set this app to start running automatically when your vehicle begins to move and turn off when you come to a stop.  This is the preferable method so you don’t even have to think about it when you get into the car.  The app blocks almost all activity that your phone could be used for like receiving incoming calls or text messages.  It even sends out a message to the person who has called or texted automatically that lets them know that you are driving and that you will return their text when your vehicle has stopped.

There is another app that works similarly, but this app allows you to compete with your friends and family about who is the safest driver, turning safe driving into a game.  The app called, EverDrive, monitors your driving behaviors and will highlight areas for you where you might not be doing the safest things behind the wheel.  This is a fun app, but it may not provide all the protections that  TextDrive provides.

We would still argue that the safest thing you can do is to put your phone away while you are driving.  There is great temptation to pick up your phone and do something with it while stuck at a red light or in traffic, and while you’re stopped, what’s the harm?  The danger here is that you will get distracted by what you saw or read on your phone and you will become a distracted driver even if you put the phone down before you start moving again.  This type of constant connection to your phone can be troubling and lead to a Connecticut auto accident.

Being distracted behind the wheel is one of the easiest ways that you can get injured and need an attorney.  If you are hurt and need an attorney to review your case our office of experienced lawyers are standing by to work with you to protect your long-term interests.
