Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Three Ways A Painter Could Be Injured On The Job

If you’ve ever painted your own home you know that painting can take two forms, one it can be relaxing and a joy and the other is it can be a painful chore that encourages you to call a professional the next time you do it.  Whichever side of the fence you fall on, there are many professional painters who do this task each and every day.

Painters are not immune from injury on the job and those injuries may lead to a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.  When a painter comes into your home or office to put a fresh coat of paint on they come with some very specific risks that could be devastating to their work.  These risks can often be overcome by following safety protocols like wearing face masks and taking precautions on ladders, but if not taken, these injuries can become severe.

Here are some of the incidents that could cause a workplace injury for a painter;

  1. Broken bones after a fall.  Often painters find themselves climbing ladders to reach the most difficult spots in a room and while their reach may barely extend to cover the wall or ceiling, they are more susceptible to a fall.  Falls from high atop a ladder can cause serious injury or worse death.

  2. Respiratory issues.  If a painter is not utilizing the proper equipment to keep themselves safe, he/she may run into respiratory issues which can leave them out of work for days, weeks, or even months.

  3. Repetitive stress injuries.  The continued use of one's hands can lead to a repetitive stress injury and leave a painter unable to do his/her job.  This type of injury can certainly be considered to be a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.

A painter may not be the first profession you think of when you’re thinking of someone who may get injured on the job, but it can be a very dangerous profession.  When the job is being done day in and day out, safety measures can be overlooked and injuries can happen.
