Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Three Workplace Injuries That May Require A Mechanic To File For Connecticut Workers’ Compensation

Workers from all professions can get injured and need to file a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.  There are no workplaces that are safe from injury, but one that is particularly dangerous is the garage where mechanics work.

Mechanics are faced with the possibility of injury each and every day when working with heavy machinery and vehicles that are heavy and can be dangerous to operate.  If they are not trained properly and provided appropriate safety measures they can find themselves in need of medical assistance.  Some of the injuries that mechanics may face at the garage include;

  • Bone fractures or clean breaks.  When dealing with machinery and vehicles that are heavy, there is an increased likelihood that an injury could occur.

  • Repetitive strain injury.  Often associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, this type of injury can occur in any part of your body from doing this same activity over and over again.  This includes the work that mechanics perform on a day to day basis.

  • Back strain.  When dealing with heavy equipment and tools it can be common for back strain or pain to develop.

While this is not an exhaustive list of the injuries that may occur when working in a garage as a mechanic, these are some of the most common injuries.  Dealing with cars and machinery can be unpredictable and can lead to workplace injuries that can have long term effects.

No profession is immune to Connecticut workers’ compensation claims.  Mechanics have the same protections that all workers in Connecticut have and if you’re a mechanic you should not suffer in silence when you’re in pain.
