Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

Walkers And Runners Should Keep These Three Tools Handy

Whether you’re out for a morning jog or walking home from a long day of work, you are putting yourself at risk of getting injured when you are a pedestrian.  Connecticut pedestrian accidents are on the rise and while legislators are working on ways to alleviate that you can prepare yourself to stay safe now.

Walking or running may not seem like something you have to do too much preparation for, but it can be just as dangerous as cycling or jumping into a motor vehicle.  You are sharing the roads, sidewalks, and intersections with vehicles that are often bigger and moving much faster than you are.  These vehicles can cause you to get seriously injured if you are not careful.

Before you head out on your next walk or run, get yourself prepared.  Making sure that you have these three tools will keep you safe and feeling secure every time you leave the house.

  • FlipBelt: It can be difficult to carry your phone or your wallet with you if you’re out for a run or walk, but this belt takes care of that.  Toss your things in the belt and then strap into it to keep your valuables with you.  If you get injured or are in danger, having some of these essentials with you may save your life.

  • Reflective Vest:  Go ahead, get the idea out of your head that these are in any way dorky or unnecessary.  This is a critical piece of safety gear that will keep you visible to both on-coming traffic and traffic on your side of the street.  It is important for you to be seen so you can stay safe.

  • Personal Alarm:   Depending on where you are walking or running you may not feel safe when you are out by yourself.  This alarm may change all of that because when you press the button on the alarm it brings a LOT of attention to you and can be heard from up to 1,000 feet away.  It will certainly amplify your voice if you’re concerned that you won’t be heard if you’re in danger.

Taking some of these tools with you is not only practical but they may also save your life.  Most Connecticut pedestrian accidents happen at night and these three tools will all help you stand out and be seen and heard while running or walking.
