Working Hard for the Hardworking People of Connecticut

What Are The Most Common Workplace Accidents?

All jobs have risks.  Even someone who sits at a desk all day can be prone to an accident which could lead to a serious injury.  If you are injured on the job it could be considered a Connecticut workers’ compensation case.

Wherever you work, accidents happen all the time and when they lead to injuries you should take action to be fairly treated.  While an accident may seem like something that no one has control over, it is still the responsibility of your employer to make sure you are compensated for any injuries resulting from the accident.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that in 2018 the number of workplace injuries remained steady at about 3.3 million from the previous year.  According to that report the numbers break out as follows:

  • Nearly 2/3 of all bone fractures occurred in the service industries

  • 6 in 10 slips and falls occurred on the same level

  • Just 15% of all injuries that were nonfatal were due to a worker getting struck, either by equipment or an object

  • 11% of injuries occurred when an employee was overexerting him/herself

  • Just over 1/3 of all cases were a result of sprains, strains or tears

If you are working in any industry and you experience an accident that results in your being injured on the job, you are entitled to file a Connecticut workers’ compensation claim.  It may be helpful to talk your claim over with a board certified attorney to protect your rights.  Reach our office and we will review your claim.
