Working With Patients Puts Health Care Workers At A Greater Risk Of A Workplace Injury

There are heroes among us.  Healthcare workers are doing the very difficult work of keeping us all healthy and safe.  This work does not come without its risks to the physical and emotional well-being of nurses and doctors.

While there are many ways that an injury can occur for a health care worker, one of the most common ways that a workplace injury can occur is when the worker is interacting with a patient.  While most patient interactions result in a positive experience, sometimes they end up injuring the nurse or doctor.

Take for instance some of the following injuries that occur most often to health care workers:

  • Back strain from moving an inmobile patient to and from their bed

  • Defensive wounds from a patient who is struggling against the medical professional

  • Slip and fall when entering or exiting a patient’s room

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome from entering patient data all day on computers

These types of injuries are very common in a health care setting and could lead to a workers’ compensation claim.  If you or a loved one is a health care worker and you were injured on the job, contact our office and one of our board certified Connecticut workers’ compensation attorneys will review your case.
